Counselling in Farnham, Alton & Online
What to expect
Taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting, even once you’ve made the decision to begin. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours, so you’re not left waiting or wondering what’s next. Here’s what you can expect:
I offer a free 20-minute online consultation. This is a chance for us to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and to get a feel for whether we’re a good fit. Therapy is a collaborative process, and feeling comfortable with your therapist is really important. We’re all different, and what works for one person might not work for another. If it turns out I’m not the right therapist for you—or if what you’re bringing is outside my area of expertise—I’ll do my best to point you in the direction of someone who can help.
If we decide to work together, we’ll arrange your first session, and agree on a regular weekly time slot that suits you.
At the start of our first session, we’ll go through a counselling agreement together. It’s a simple document that covers important information like confidentiality, data protection, and boundaries. We’ll also take some time to explore in more detail what you’d like to get out of therapy. This can give us a helpful focus and something to check in on and review from time to time as we work together.
How long we work together is completely up to you. Some people require short-term support, while others choose to work at a deeper level over a longer period. Often, this becomes clearer as the process unfolds—and we’ll find the pace and approach that feels right for you.
